Every year we count our statistics and analytics regarding downloads, visits and overall pageviews on FJMHombrew.com We’ve started doing this since last year, and these stats prove that the PSP Homebrew scene isn’t dead at all. While last year I gave you insight into our whole operation (YouTube, the website and the Homebrews) this article will focus on the Homebrews only. Additional statistics will be released at a later moment. So let’s jump right in!
The data is collected from multiple sources. The major PSP Homebrew websites have been visited and data-mined. With some simple math, our Homebrew games have been downloaded through these sources more than half a million times. The major sources are:
- Brewology.com
- IndieDB / ModDB
- Mobyware
- FJMHomebrew.com
- Dashhacks
- Code.google.com (through Wayback Machine circa 2015)
All these stats or being updated on a local database, managed by our parent company: Modoka. With this information, we can see which countries are more active than others in the Homebrew scene. Another major reason is: Data can be beautiful.
Since last year, we’ve updated FJM Homebrew to track and trace downloads, which means that we can see which Homebrew game is downloaded where, when and how many times. Previously we’ve only hosted internally one Homebrew game: Slender PSP. Other Homebrew used to be exclusively available through other sources. Today we are striving the preserve our project internally as well as externally. So in the upcoming months, you can see many unreleased versions making its way to our library.
The reason why we try to locate where our projects are being downloaded is to know our market. This way we can cater our Homebrew projects in different languages so that everyone can enjoy the simplicity of this awesome PSP niche world.
