Background
Join Mario in this new boat adventure, travel across the seas, rivers and more in Mario Boat! This game will let you play some SEArious boat adventure! Try to avoid all the obstacles to let Mario survive the harsh rivers of the Mushroom Kingdom, and don’t get hit by any of the dangerous rocks along the way.
Originally created by Dark_momo and used as a mini-game since the originating versions of Mario Kart PSP, Mario Boat was planned to be much more than what it currently is: Mario Kart PSP with different textures. Not only were we planning to add much more features, but we also wanted to port the game to multiple devices.
The final version (Mario Boat 1.0) started out as a new Mario Kart PSP version. The development team was working on new features and cut the size of the images. We added a menu and released it as a concept version. After that, the game was ported to PC.
Trivia
- The current “Mario Boat” Homebrew was a test version for future Mario Kart PSP updates.
- The PC version of “Mario Boat” was also planned to be a test version for a Mario Kart PSP port.
- The Nintendo DS version was only compatible with R4, and not with DSTT.
- The Homebrew started with the name “Mario Boat Trip” but was shortened.
